Everlance supports three convenient methods of mileage tracking, so you can decide which option best suits your needs. Keep scrolling to learn more!
Pro tip: Make sure that your device's Location Permissions for Everlance are turned ON if manually or automatically recording your trips.
1. Auto-Detection
The Premium Auto-Detection feature efficiently tracks trips in the background of a phone, freeing up time and easily satisfying IRS requirements for mileage logs. Once trips are recorded, they just need to be Classified. Swipe the Trips to the right to mark them as Work, or to the left for Personal and/or Other.
Auto-Detection can be turned on and off in the Tracker Settings of the app.
You can also choose Automatic Recording Style to decide if you want your trips recorded individually or all in one route (see the tutorial for further detail).
Users should check their Tracker Checklist (also found in the Tracker Settings) to ensure the Everlance app has the proper mobile device permissions for Trip Tracking and continue to open the app at least once a week to maintain tracking accuracy. Timestamps are included on these Auto-Detected Trips.
2. Manual Recording
The Manual Recording feature provides a hands-on GPS tracking approach that relies on the user to begin and end their driving. Like Auto-Detected Trips, mileage tracked with this method will include timestamps.
To Track with this method, go to Tracker Settings and select Manual Recording Style-> Choose Individual Trips or Long Session. We recommend long sessions if you're driving continuously for work, such as for DoorDash, Uber, etc.
Once your settings are correct, click on the + button in the app and choose Start Work Session. End the Trip when it's over, Classify, and you're done!
3. Manual Entry
Trips can also be manually entered in the + section of the app, which is great for past mileage and the occasional trip. These trips show as manually entered and allow the option to enter a timestamp.
The Web Dashboard can be accessed on a computer or laptop to manually add trips as well.
