As an employee, you're probably wondering how many miles you'll be paid when you go to submit a report. This all depends on your company's commute deduction policy. A commute is the roundtrip distance from your home to your place of work. Your commute is then subtracted from your total daily mileage (gross mileage) to make up your total net mileage.
There are two types of commute policies that your company can choose from, 'Daily' and 'First and Last'. The commute type defines how the commute is deducted from your total mileage for the day. Check out our article Commute for Drivers to learn how each type is deducted.
Now to learn how to see your commute deduction policy, keep scrolling for a step-by-step tutorial:
Step 1: Log in to your Team Dashboard.
Step 2: Click on 'View Team'.
Step 3: From here, you will find your team settings page where you will see the information associated with your team account including your Commute Type and Commute Distance. In this example, the Commute Type is 'Daily' and the Commute Distance is '10 miles'. This means 10 miles for Commute is deducted from a driver’s total daily mileage.
You might also see the following policy 'First and Last'. In this example, the commute distance is 10 miles. This commute type deducts the commute disallowance specifically from the first and last trips of the day only.
That's it!
